Vietnam in 14 days

After falling in love with Laos and extending our stay there, we were left with only 2 weeks to make it down along the length of Vietnam in order to make a flight in Saigon. After visiting Halong Bay we were enthralled by the beautiful and bustling Hanoi. So much there to regale the senses, it was one of those cities where I could have stayed for a long time.

We then made a brief pit stop in Hoi An so that my fashion-concious fiance could have a cashmere suit made. Then an overnight train journey left us in Hue from where we made our way to Mui Ne for some much needed beachy time. There we visited sand dunes and fairy streams and sampled some excellent restaurants and flash bars.

Finishing up this whirlwind tour in Saigon, our hearts were broken by the photographs of the Vietnam/America war at the War Remnants Museum - its incredible to see the after affects of the conflict that still affects so many people in Vietnam and the US. An amazing country, one that demanded more time in order to properly understand and appreciate its many different facets.
