We arrived in Brisbane to visit my brother who had travelled to Thailand for Christmas and New Year, so while we waited, we hit the beach for some surfing, body boarding and general sun worship. However, the clouds gathered and we enjoyed the delights of Mooloolaba under a dark, dark sky.
Once we returned to Brisbane it became clear that the rain was causing more problems then hampering our beach plans and that a national disaster was fast approaching. Floods, blackouts, cooking on gas and a quick visit to the modern art museum punctuated watching hours of media coverage and getting hammered with our gracious hosts. Fun times.
